Hello Cherry Chase Families,

What a great afternoon my kids and I had at the Walk-a-thon and Auction! I hope you were all able to be there for some of it and that your children enjoyed the music, food, prizes and friends as they walked to raise money for our school.  Thank you to everyone for making the Walk-a-thon and Auction such a huge success.  To all the parents who volunteered, both in preparing for the event and on the day, and to the teachers for donating the always very popular “teacher experience” baskets, thank you.  But most of all…thank you to Joanne Callahan and Faye Rotbert for chairing such a successful community and fund raising event and for finding ways to enhance the experience!  We couldn’t have done it without you.

Next week is our Spring Book Faire and a wonderful opportunity to start building up a collection of books for summer reading!  Please be on the lookout for opportunities to help at the book faire and make sure to stop by with your children to buy some books and consider donating one to your favorite teacher(s)!

Coming up May 6^th – 10^th is Staff Appreciation Week. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate and thank our outstanding teachers and staff.  Each day we will have activities planned to help us express our collective gratitude. This is a great time to show your appreciation for not only your classroom teacher, but our tremendous office staff, the crossing guards who safely get our children across the streets to school, the custodians for taking such good care of our campus, and all the other staff that help make our children’s experience at Cherry Chase such a positive one. Please take some time to participate in some of the planned activities or find a way of your own to show your gratitude for their contributions to Cherry Chase.

Even though we still have another month and a half of school left, we are already busy planning for next year.  We have elected our PTA executive board for next year and redirected unused funds for projects to be implemented this year.  Also, the budget committee is in full swing putting together the 2013-2014 school year PTA budget.

This is a fun time of year and a great time to be part of Cherry Chase.  With the return of the good weather the kids are spending time in the garden, their outdoor science classroom; everyone is gearing up for summer reading by buying books at the Book Faire and International Night is just around the corner.  Each and every one of these events and the community of families, teachers and staff that support them remind me of just how lucky we are to be part of Cherry Chase.

Yearbook News: Calling all parent photographers!

The Cherry Chase yearbook needs your photographs!

Types of photographs needed:

• classroom candids.
• field trip candids
• lunch and recess candids.

Photographs should be of multiple kids doing activities. The faces should be recognizable.
