Our strong culture of parent involvement is what makes Cherry Chase such a special and enriching school. Last year, our volunteers contributed over 30,000 hours of their time to the school. Everybody benefits when parents participate!

No matter what your schedule is like, we have a volunteer spot with your name on it! We can use help during the weekdays, weeknights, or weekends and at special one-time events or at home on YOUR OWN TIME.

We encourage every parent to volunteer at least 10 hours a year with us! As you make plans for the next school year, we appeal to each family to set aside 20 hours per child (10 for each parent) to help at school. Everyone in the family is invited to participate including extended family and caregivers.

Why Volunteer at Cherry Chase?

  • Your kids LOVE it! Volunteering gives you a wonderful opportunity to create special school memories – elementary school years go by faster than you can imagine!
  • It builds a strong school and community. You get to know other neighborhood parents—and your child’s schoolmates!
  • You are a role model. By volunteering at their school, you are not just telling your kids, but you are showing them how much you value education and community.
  • Volunteers are in integral part of every Cherry Chase student’s elementary education Without your time, many of our valuable and enriching programs (FAME, garden, PE, band, strings, special events, languages, and so many more!) would just not exist.
  • A strong school means strong home values. Kiplinger Reports listed Sunnyvale as one of the top 10 cities in the nation to raise a family. Two of the reasons cited were public safety and distinguished schools, one of which is Cherry Chase! The enrichment programs made possible by our PTA and volunteers is a big factor in this honor.
