Cherry Chase is thrilled that we have a thriving PTA (Parent-Teacher Association).  Connecting families and schools for more than 115 years, the worldwide PTA is the largest children’s advocacy in the country. People join to support the work we do locally and the work PTAs do collectively around the world to help children, families and schools.

The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child. In doing so, you also help our school. But there are many more PTA advantages:

Reason #1: Have a voice

PTA membership gives you a “seat at the table” when important decisions are made about our school. You help decide which programs we continue to sponsor, how we accomplish our goals for our school and share ideas about how to continue making Cherry Chase a great school.

Reason #2: Be part of the solution (locally)

By getting involved at Cherry Chase, you can help make positive changes. The PTA plays an important role in fundraising to provide improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events. Have a great idea for a change? Join the PTA and suggest it!

Reason #3: Be part of the solution (across the United States)

By working together, PTA members have helped advance local, state, and national laws and policies to improve the education, health, and safety of our children.

Reason #4: Fund advocacy for children

A part of your membership fees go directly to the state and national PTAs. They use these fees to hire lobbyists to lobby for children’s rights and education and make a difference for our kids.

Reason #5: Be in the know

The PTA knows what’s happening with the school, who is involved, and what the plans are for many of the events. Being a member helps you become a more informed parent and it allows you to truly make a difference in your child’s education.

Reason #6: Tap into a network

PTA gatherings are opportunities to meet other neighborhood parents and teachers, to build rapport, and discuss issues that are on your mind. You can share ideas, concerns, and experiences to make the school year better for everyone. Some PTA members have met their best friends through our PTA!

Reason #7: Build new skills

Join the PTA and volunteer. Learn something new or gain expertise that can help you in your current or future job.

Reason #8: Enhance your resume

Through PTA volunteering, you are polishing your leadership skills. Working in the PTA is recognized by the job market as a legitimate and valuable way to spend your time. This can be helpful whatever your current career situation might be.

Reason #9: Share your culture

Cherry Chase is such a wonderful mix of parents and children from diverse backgrounds. Join the PTA and share your cultural background and experiences.

Reason #10: Have fun!

While joining the PTA is about improving our school, it’s also a lot of fun to volunteer for PTA programs, events, and interact with kids and fellow parents! You can have fun while doing good.
