5 Math Olympiads @ Cherry Chase
Grades: 4, 5
The Mathletes after school program will be opening up registration for all 4-5th graders, who would like to compete in Math Olympiads (MOEMS). Kids enrolling in the Mathlete after school program for Winter/Spring will be automatically eligible to participate, and need not separately register.
There will be 5 tests, each on following dates: 1/25, 2/8, 2/15, 3/7, 3/14.
Registration cost* : 5 sessions of Mathelete ($35 x 5) + $50 (registration fee)

There is so much to the world of math that kids don’t see in school! In our classes, your kids will discover that math is visual, hands-on, and FUN!
In our classes students will:
* Develop their spatial intelligence, number sense, pattern recognition, and modeling skills using linking cubes.
* Develop problem solving skills with engaging questions from Math Kangaroo and other in-house math competitions.
* Cultivate deductive reasoning by systematically solving different types of puzzles (Japanese Logic Puzzles, Algebra puzzles, etc).
* Practice their fluency and develop intuition for probability through games involving cards and dice.
Work is started in class, and often continued at home. We have an online curriculum that contains a large number of assignments that vary by theme and difficulty.
Our ultimate goal is to help students become tenacious problem solvers who love math.

Our program focuses on creative problem solving in Mathematics. Students work alone and together tackling fun problems from Math Kangaroo, Math Olympiads, and informal team competitions. Mathletes will be solving fun problems every week in practice. Work is started in class, and often continued at home. We have an online curriculum that contains a large number of assignments that vary by theme and difficulty. This gives students the opportunity to tackle fun problems throughout the week, both inside and outside of class. We also play math games and tackle a variety of puzzles throughout the school year. Our ultimate goal is to help students become tenacious problem solvers who love math. If you like puzzles, patterns, and problem solving, come join us!
